Taylor's Story
Taylor is the youngest daughter of Mr. Isaiah Dunifer. She has two older siblings. A resident of Fort Mill SC with deep roots in Chester SC, Taylor is a 2019 graduate from Nations Ford High School. This intelligent young woman graduated with a 3.9 GPA. She was also a member of Beta Club, Junior Civitans, and Teacher Cadets. She worked as a part-time cashier at CVS Pharmacy and participated in both Teacher Cadets and a Health Science Internship. As mentioned before, Taylor is attending Clemson University and is pursuing a major in psychology. Great job, Taylor! Perhaps Taylor's most meaningful story comes from her own words (shared with her permission):
"I chose psychology as my major because at the age of one, my mother left me and my two siblings to be raised alone by my father. Growing up, my father made sure that we did not lack anything or be excluded from anything. However, I still had issues with abandonment and rejection which cause me to have many insecurities about myself. My dad put me into counseling to deal with my issues and it was the best decision that could have ever been made for me. I learned that the issues my mom had were not because of me, but because of the decisions she chose to make in her life. Counseling helped to change the way I look at myself and how I deal with situations."
"I believe that all children have a right to an enjoyable childhood and they deserve a fair chance at all opportunities that life has to offer. As a childhood psychologist, my commitment to my community is that I will be an advocate for every child that I come in contact with...to make sure that they feel loved, wanted, and accepted. I want children to know that your environment does not dictate one's future. I want to share my experience and let them know that because of my father's love, influence, and willingness to send me to be counseled, I am who I am today, and I am proud of who I am and am becoming. I want each child in my community to know that they matter and we want each and everyone of them to succeed."
With such heart, Taylor has also spent the last 5 years making gift baskets to distribute to senior citizens with her family. Deserving and inspiring, Taylor, we applaud you. We are also very proud of you! Keep up the great work.
